Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region is located in south China, adjacent to Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao of China, bordering on the Beibu Gulf in the south and Vietnam in the southwest, with a land area of about 240,000 square kilometers and a population of approximately 57 million. It is China’s only ethnic minority autonomous region situated along the coast, the river and the border, and has the largest ethnic minority population in China, with the minority population accounting for 37.5% of the total population of the region. Nanning, the capital of Guangxi, is the permanent venue for the China-ASEAN Expo. Guangxi boasts rich cultural tourism resources, including the most scenic Guilin, marvelous coastal scenery, distinctive border customs and minority culture.


Zuojiang Huashan Rock Art Cultural Landscape

Zuojiang Huashan Rock Art Cultural Landscape, which dates back to the 5th century B.C. to the 2nd century A.D., is the largest, most densely distributed ochre red petroglyph cluster with the largest number of images in southern China and even southeast Asia. The rock art, about 110 meters above the water surface, depict the scenes of Guangxi ancestors working, living, offering sacrifices, etc., and are masterpiece of human creativity demonstrating superb painting skills. It was inscribed on the list of world cultural heritage in 2016.


Lingqu Canal

Located in Xing’an County, Guangxi, the Lingqu Canal was built for navigation in 214 BC and is one of the oldest canals in the world, older than the Panama Canal and the Suez Canal by more than 2,000 years. In 2018, it was included in the fifth batch of World Heritage Irrigation Structures.


Bronze drums

The bronze drum is a kind of bronze ceremonial instrument that has been popular in southern China and Southeast Asia for more than 2,700 years. Guangxi is known as the “hometown of China’s bronze drums” for its large number of bronze drums, complete types and wide distribution. 


Jingjiang Princes’ City

Located in the city of Guilin, Jingjiang Princes’ City is the best-preserved Ming Dynasty vassal king residence in China.


Huangyao Ancient Town

Located in Zhaoping County, Hezhou City, Huangyao Ancient Town can trace its history to more than 1,000 years ago.


Chengyang Eight Stockade

Located in Sanjiang County, Chengyang Eight Stockade is one of the largest Dong settlements in China. The shelter bridges in the village are known as the “wonder of world architecture” because they were built with a mortise and tenon structure, without the need for any drawings and metal nails.
