One river connects the ancient and the modern, and one culture spreads for thousands of years. The Grand Canal (Zhejiang section) is a shipping hub in the south that has lasted for thousands of years. The Chinese character "Hang" of the Beijing Hangzhou Grand Canal refers Hangzhou, Zhejiang.  The Zhedong Grand Canal is an extension of the Beijing Hangzhou Grand Canal. Starting from Hangzhou, it passes through Shaoxing and Ningbo, and finally enters the sea at Sanjiangkou of Ningbo. The Zhedong Grand Canal is an important link of the land Silk Road and the Maritime Silk Road. It is also a road for cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries. Today, the Grand Canal flowing through Zhejiang is full of new vitality based on its profound heritage. From riverside families to science and technology towns, from ancient bridges and ferries to art areas, the proposed Asian Games venues are rising along the river, and the industrial relics are revitalized. The canal bank area has presented a modern life of green ecology, vitality and openness.

Shaoxing City

The city of Shaoxing is situated in the south corner of Yangtze River Delta,  only 30 kilometers to Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport, 120 kilometers to the famous Beilun Port and 230 kilometers to Shanghai. It has a tropical and subtropical humid monsoon climate. It is north of the Qiantang River with the meandering Chao'e River across it, and is a famous watery region in south China.

Anchang Ancient Town is a famous Jiangnan Water Town with a history of 1000 years. The ancient river market, which is several miles long, is preserved in the ancient town, with antique shops and dwellings, distinctive workshops, well arranged arcades, winding and deep stone alleys, and ancient and small stone bridges.

Bazi Bridge: located in Yuecheng District, Shaoxing City, Zhejiang Province. The two bridges are opposite each other and slanting, like Chinese character eight, thus their name. The structure of the splay bridge is a stone beam bridge, which is built at the confluence of three rivers. It is composed of a main bridge and an auxiliary bridge, with a total of four groups of steps.

Ancient towpath is located in Shaoxing Section of East Zhejiang Canal, it passes through Shaoxing from east to west. It is not only a passage for boat trackers to carry the boats, but also a barrier for ships to avoid the wind and waves.
