Xunke Winter Tourism

Image_20250206101221.jpg

Xunke is located along the China-Russia border and is known for its beautiful natural scenery, excellent ecological environment, unique ethnic customs, and abundant tourism resources. Every winter, rime ice appears on Xunke’s large platforms as expected. It is renowned worldwide for its majestic and varied formations, earning it the title of the "Rime Capital of the North." Due to the proximity of the scenic area to the Kulun Hydropower Station, the river water’s temperature rises after passing through the station’s turbines, preventing the river from freezing. This process releases a large amount of water vapor, increasing air humidity. As temperatures drop at night, the vapor cools and condenses on forest trees, forming a distinctive rime ice landscape rarely seen in China. This phenomenon can last up to four months, with the rime ice visible for as many as 10 hours each day.
