Jiaxing

In June 2014, the Chinese Grand Canal project was officially inscribed on the World Heritage List, jiaxing has five river courses (110km long, equivalent to the length of the Panama Canal and more than 10 per cent of the total length of the canal) and two heritage sites (Changhong Bridge, Chang'an gate) .

The thousand-year-old canal, stretching from north to south and through the ancient world, vividly records the timeless times and beautiful scenery. It has sustained a long history and a splendid civilization for generations, and has watered the “Roots” and “Souls” of Jiaxing, jiaxing Jiaxing's style and pattern, established the city's “Left Hangzhou, right Suzhou, north-south thoroughfare,” the role of the canal, forming a “Canal city, eight water convergence,” the unique urban landscape, created a “Small bridge over the flowing water, a water town in dreams” the beautiful Jiangnan Scroll.

Hangzhou Scenic Area of Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal

The world’s longest in mileage and largest in engineering scale, the ancient Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal is also one of the oldest. Its Hangzhou Scenic Area features a delightful mixture of white-walled and black-roofed residences, winding slate-paved lanes and alleys, old grain transport vessels adapted for gala night cruises, workshops for creative ideas in peaceful environs.There are three historical street blocks of DadouluXiaohezhijie and Qiaoxi.  Along the water course one also finds China Arts and Crafts Museum.In 2014 the Grand Canal successfully made to UNESCO World Cuitural Heritage List.

Hangzhou: Tangqi ancient town

Tangqi is located in the north of Hangzhou City approximately twenty kilometers away from downtown Hangzhou. With the Grand Canal flowing through it Tangqi has been the waterway portal of Hangzhou for centuries.

Before the Northern Song Dynasty Tangqi was no more than a fishing village, it was only later in the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368 AD), due to the broadening of the Grand Canal, that it developed into a flourishing town. In the Ming and Qing Dynasties Tangqi reached its height, ranking first in the "Ten Famous Towns of Jiangnan Region". With such a glorious history this town has been blessed with abundant cultural heritage and historical relics.

Huzhou

Nanxun was prosperous due to the Grand Canal, which gave birth to six ancient towns: Nanxun, Lianshi, Shuanglin, Linghu, Shanlian, and Digang.

Shaoxing: The Keqiao Section of East Zhejiang Canal

Keqiao section of the canal is an important part of the World Heritage— Grand Canal of China. The water of the canal flows from west to east, from Gujiadang Village in Qianqing sub-district, to Zhongya Bridge in Keqiao sub-district, and flows through many heritage sites such as the ancient Towpath. 

Shaoxing：Gu Qiandao (Ancient Towpath)

Gu Qiandao (Ancient Towpath) is also known as Towpath Pond. It has a total length of 7.5 kilometers. As a world cultural heritage as well as a national protected cultural relics, the overall design of the ancient Towpath is exquisite and the project is so huge that it's a great wonder in the history of China's water conservancy architecture.
